WIP Wednesday: Quilting my Swoon!

I finished piecing my New Wave in Glimma quilt top yesterday! I love it and I'm super excited about quilting it. BUT I don't know what to use to back it or for the binding so until I find the perfect fabric, it'll have to wait...

Since I couldn't get started on quilting New Wave, I decided put my Swoon quilt on the sewing machine.

I'm quilting super simple, clean and crisp straight lines.

The lines are about 1 1/4" apart (the width of the painter's tape) and I'm using a technique I learned in Jacquie Gering's latest Craftsy class by using painter's tape as my guide. I think it'll take a while! :-)

Linking up at Lee's for WIP Wednesday.

Thanks for stopping by!

  1. Love your new wave quilt! The colour wash looks so great in these fabrics. That's one that has been on my list for years now.

  2. That new wave quilt is amazing good luck on your perfect backing quest! Let us know how the painters tape method works, I have seen it but never tried it before.

  3. It's gorgeous. When I saw this in your last WIP post, it prompted me to start my own ... I've pieced the first two rows so far. It's such a great pattern :)

  5. That's lovely Izzy, it's like all the seasons in one quilt, really pretty. it will be interesting to see what you choose for the back and binding.

  10. The quilting is going to look great on the swoon, I can't wait to see the finish! I have been thinking about taking Jacquie Gering's new class, would you recommend it?

  11. I love your Wave quilt. I like how you decided to layout the different Glimma prints from the lightest to the darkest. If you don't want to piece the back, the Botanics are available in wide. I think the Yarrow color (curry) would look great with the Glimma fabrics (http://www.fatquartershop.com/botanics-wide-yarrow-screen-yardage).

  13. I've triedthe painters tape but it stopped sticking after a few rows and I noticed it was hard, for me, to keep it straight. How did it go for you? I adore straight line quilting and have tried marking with a hera marker and a frixon pen with success but it takes a chunk of time to mark it.
